The original Pop artist,
Richard Hamilton has died. Hamilton's brainier brand of Pop Art began as a form of social commentary inextricably tied to Duchampian existential absurdism but it ended up becoming the dominant mode for understanding the man made environment in the second half of the 20th Century.

The NY Times had an interesting article on
Postmodern design and how some that were responsible aren't that proud of certain milestone elements. It might not have been the most successful of styles (as the
Portland Building reminds us) but it helped break from the autocratic monolithic aspects that had made Modernist design a bit hard to stomach as well.
