Elina Tuhkanen, from Pilose Crux
Nationale presents Elina Tuhkanen's
Pilose Crux: Performative Sculptures from Finland. "Communing, prayer-like, behind heavy screens of fur, their hidden gesturing suggests a longing for symbiosis in a culture defined by its increasing disconnect from the natural world."
There's also a special screening of Tuhkanen's video works
tonight, followed by a panel discussion featuring Tuhkanen, co-curator Emily Henderson, Finnish artist Alma Heikkilä, and Portland poet Alicia Coen.
