"Archangel Raphael," Ethiopian, 20th century
The Hallie Ford Museum at Willamette University is currently showing
Glory of Kings: Ethiopian Christian Art from Oregon Collections. The exhibition features Ethiopian icons, illuminated manuscripts, magic scrolls, icon and cross pendants, and handheld and processional crosses that serve as visual expressions of the Ethiopian Christian faith and ritual practice. In conjunction with the show, Ethiopian art scholar Marilyn Heldman will lecture on the Ethiopian site of Lalibala on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. in the museum's Roger Hull Lecture Hall.
