Kartz Ucci, "an opera for one"
TILT Export presents installation artists Kartz Ucci at the PCC Rock Creek Helzer Gallery. In
an opera for one, Ucci hired soprano Deanna Pauletto to sing a capella Pablo Neruda's book of poetry, "Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair." The piece was recorded in a 16-story, cement-encased stairwell and a color-coded score was composed based on Ucci's interpretation of the relation between color and its emotional vibration. The resulting installation is a "hauntingly romantic" response to this effort. This ongoing exhibition runs through October 30, 2009. The artist talk will be in the school's Forum, Building 3, followed by a reception in the gallery.
