I rarely talk about art I make (or show it)... mostly because I prefer the way it educates me, not the other way around. But this time out I definitely have something to say beyond the typical artist talk a.k.a. "what I like"... I have been developing a bit of a response to Rem Koolhaas' junkspace essay and this is a good time to air these ideas.
Also, the numerous spatially related art shows in Portland have really flummoxed most of the local critics... though the sheer amount of flummoxing indicates something is afoot. I'll be publishing an essay on about a dozen or so "space" artists aimed at developing some more serious talking points regarding what is going on here.
There is an emerging philosphy of space taking shape in Portland and it's the artists not the architects forwarding the discussion. ...interesting
