ARTIST/FOUNDATIONS @ WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY, Pullman, WA. Asst. Prof. Tenure-track, full-time, salary competitive.
Seeking artist with an active exhibition record for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor. The successful candidate must have an engagement with contemporary art practice and critical theory, and a desire to work collaboratively with faculty to develop a progressive, interdisciplinary foundations program. Duties include teaching four undergraduate classes per year, which could include 2D, 3D, 4D, and critical theory plus graduate hours. Serve as foundations area coordinator with opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines in the fine arts program. Other responsibilities include undergraduate advising and service to the department and university. MFA or equivalent at time of application, an ability to coordinate the foundations area, and a dedicated cross-disciplinary approach to art practice required. Experience teaching at the university level, evidence of building a strong exhibition record, and knowledge of contemporary critical issues preferred. An indication of prior collaboration also preferred. Send letter of application, teaching philosophy, C.V., three letters of recommendation, 20 slides of personal work and 20 slides of student work. We will also accept CD, DVD, and/or VHS limited 15 minutes.

Curator: Jacqueline Ehlis, Artist and Instructor, Portland Oregon. This exhibition looks at the abundance of art as the diaristic, doodle, and crafty trace verses art as a unique cultural manifestation, regionally based, and authentic.
